Arsenal missed Henry in defeat against Bolton

Share |

It was a really bad thing for Arsenal that Nicolas Anelka finally found his goal touch. Bolton moved up to third place in the Premiership thanks to their 3-1 win over his former club Arsenal FC at the Reebok Stadium.

The French forward had failed to find the target in his first 10 league matches, but he scored twice to sink the Gunners, who slipped to sixth.

We must consider that Wenger's team couldn't have Thierry Henry on their side, because of an injury.

Abdoulaye Faye headed home from El-Hadji Diouf's ninth-minute corner before Anelka's spectacular first in the 45th minute.

He latched on to Kevin Davies' pass, cut in from the left and unleashed an unstoppable, swerving shot into the top corner from 25 yards.

There was still time before the break for Gilberto to pull one back for Arsenal, and despite that Anelka made sure of all three points after 75 minutes when he applied a confident finish to Ivan Campo's well-weighted through-ball.
